In My Mailbox – April 2, 2012

“In My Mailbox” is a weekly event hosted by Kristie at The Story Siren through which bloggers can showcase all the books they’ve received/purchased/absconded with.  Yeah, I know I’m a day late in getting up this post.  So sue me.  I could use some good litigation to spice up my life anyway.

This week I didn’t get that many books.  There are supposedly three ARCs on their way to my house (big thanks to both Goodreads and Librarything on those), but on account of I ain’t got my grubby little mitts on them yet, I don’t reckon it’s fair to include them on the list.  That being as it is, this week is slim pickings.

Books I Won

Banned for Life by D.R. Haney – I won this one in a giveaway on Ethan’s blog (thanks again, E!).  And you know me, I’m biologically incapable of turning down free books.  I’m told that Banned for Life is a coming of age story, which would normally send me running for the hills.  But I’m also told that it’s set in the punk rock scene of the 70s and 80s, so I’m back on board.  I can take a coming of age story as long as I can simultaneously get my rock on.

Review Copies I Received

Tainted Dish by Charles L. FieldsTainted Dish is part of the Charles Stone mystery series.  The cover calls it a “travel mystery,” though I honestly don’t know what that means.  Stone is an investigative lawyer that takes a case to help a recently widowed friend, and ends up stopping several international diabolical plots in the process.  Sounds like a winner to me.  I actually got this book a couple weeks ago, but since I never posted about it, I figured, why not?  It’ll make this entry in IMM not seem so sad.

And now it's your turn, gentle reader.  What fun books did you get this week?  Hopefully you did better than me.
