Mailbox Monday - May 21, 2012

Mailbox Monday is a weekly meme started by Marcia at Mailbox Monday in which bloggers can ramble on about the books they received/bought/stole over a given week. Each month a new blogger hosts the meme, and this month it’s Martha at Martha’sBookshelf. 

Over in my neck of the woods, this week is the SSP freebie week--mostly because I forgot to include them in   my previous Mialbox Monday/IMM posts.  And since I didn't get anything in the mail this week, we're using SSP to fill the gap.  For those of you who might not know, SSP stands for Seventh Star Press, a small publishing firm that specializes in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror.  They've got a lot of great authors on their roster, but probably the coolest thing about them is that I get to sample them all for freesies.  Hopefully the rest of you cashed in on the opportunity while you had it.  

Anyway, enough about that.  On to the books!

Electronic Copies Received

Brotherhood of Dwarves by D. A. Adams - I posted about this 'un a little while ago.  Basically, it's what the title says.  There are some dwarves.  They have a brotherhood.  They kick ass.  I'm fairly certain there could be a bit more to it than that, but I don't know for sure.  But based upon the cover alone, it looks like something I'll enjoy.

Overkill by Steven Shrewsbury - More fantasy goodness, but this one involves a 700 year old warrior who's called back into the service of the queen to save a kidnapped princess.  Oh yeah, and to kick ass.  I've heard a little bit more about this one, and it sounds like something in the vein of The Black Company, which, I needn't tell you, makes me cream my jeans.

Angelkiller by H. David Blalock - I also plugged this genre-bending novel not too long ago.  It's part thriller, part horror, and part sci-fi (cyberpunk, it sounds like).  I hear good things about it, so I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to read it.  Hell, I'm eagerly awaiting my chance to read all these magnificent books.
