I don’t know if I mentioned
it or not, but I used to be a huge geek.
Hell, who am I kidding? I still am a huge geek. My geekdom has just transformed over the
years. See, I used to get my rocks off
over Dragonlance books and long D&D sessions. Well, not literally. Chainmail bikinis were never my thing. You get the idea, though. Whereas I now swoon over Raymond Chandler and Ross MacDonald, it used
to be Margaret Weiss
and R.A. Salvator that
got me all hot and bothered. Literarily
speaking, of course.
So why pick today of all days
to lay bare my geeky soul? Because for the next two days the
good folks at Seventh Star Press
are giving away a book called The Brotherhood of Dwarves by D. A. Adams. I mean, look at that cover. It’s enough to give Gary Gygax a decent
in-betweener—and he’s dead.
The story goes a little
something like this:
"The dwarven saga begins…
"Roskin, heir to the throne of a remote, peaceful kingdom of dwarves, craves excitement and adventure. Outside his own kingdom, in search of fortune and glory, he finds a much different world, one divided by racial strife and overrun by war. The orcs to the south want to conquer all dwarves and sell them as slaves. The humans to the east want to control the world's resources.
"Caught in the middle, Roskin finds himself chased by slave traders and soldiers alike as he discovers that friendship is the best fortune of all. Just when he thinks he has triumphed, an act of betrayal sends him into bondage. His only hope of escape is the faltering courage of a disgraced warrior whose best days are behind him..."
Chomping at the bit yet? Then do what I did. Go
to Amazon and download that thing right
freaking now.
Glad it got you excited Jonathan :)
ReplyDeleteI owe it all to you anyway. Thanks again. ;)
ReplyDeleteI used to read lots of Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms books when I was in high school. The book sounds interesting, even though dwarves were never my favourite characters.
ReplyDeleteI went. I saw. I downloaded.
